Early Life

G.A. Sealy was brought up in an ethnically diverse Richmond Hill Queens New York neighborhood by his mother, who came from the island of Barbados, a place where he spent many summers as a child. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother set high expectations for him, instilling in him the importance of a good education, which culminated in him being selected to be the valedictorian of his elementary school.

Education & Career

G.A. then went on to attend Brooklyn Technical High School, City College of the City University of New York, majoring in biology and education, and Touro College, where he received his Master’s Degree in Education and Administration. He is a certified health and wellness educator and the principal consultant of K.I.D.S. (Keeping in Dynamic Shape), an organization dedicated to educating young people and their families about nutrition and fitness. G.A. is also a life coach who specializes in weight loss and a certified science educator, having worked in public schools in New York and Georgia.

Awards & Achievements

His experiences as an educator, and having a young daughter and niece who at times question their beauty due to the images they continuously encounter in the media, was the inspiration behind his first book entitled Don’t You know You are Beautiful Just the Way You Are! which was awarded the 2017 Moonbeam Children’s Book Silver Award in the Mind-Body-Spirit and Self- Esteem category, the 2017 Nautilus Silver Book Award for Children’s Illustrated Fiction books and was a finalist in Children’s Mind-Body & Spirit books in the 2017 International Book Awards. This book is the first title in his I Love Me series of books, designed to promote self-confidence, self- acceptance, love of self and health in young people. In addition to these books, G. A. Sealy writes another series called the Young Scientist Series, with the aim of “Teaching Young Minds through Science and Rhymes.” His second book in this series How Do Plants Grow? was awarded the 2017 Nautilus Silver Award for Children’s Illustrated Non- Fiction books and was a finalist in Children’s Educational books in the 2017 International Book Awards.
